Made for the files your agent reads

Everything a Markdown editor does, with the parts that matter when an agent edits the same file.

  • Formatted as you typeThe Markdown syntax disappears as you write and comes back on the line you are editing. Source mode is there when you want the raw text.
  • Only what you changedLines you didn’t touch are saved exactly as they were, so a diff of your CLAUDE.md shows your edit and nothing else.
  • Reloads as the agent writesWhen an agent rewrites the file, Steerdown reloads it in place and keeps you where you were reading.
  • See what changedNew and edited blocks glow after a reload. Show Changes compares the file with the last time you read it, change by change.

How it works

Read, review, steer

  1. Open what your agent works onA CLAUDE.md, an AGENTS.md, a plan, or the whole project folder: the sidebar lists every Markdown file in it.
  2. Read as it writesLeave Steerdown open while Claude Code, Cursor or Codex works. Each save reloads in place, and the changed blocks light up.
  3. SteerEdit the plan or the rules and save. The agent reads your version, and only the lines you changed are different.

Privacy

Your files stay yours

A Mac app that works on your files, on your Mac.

  • No analytics or tracking in the app.
  • Your files stay on your Mac. The app is sandboxed and opens only the files and folders you give it.
  • Images from the web don’t load until you allow them, so a tracking pixel in a document can’t report back.
